None. The price is the same. And, the advice of a good agent is invaluable knowledge.
And, you will have an agent that will be there when you need them.

There are three things that insurers look at:
The driver. They charge you alot since you are young and inexperienced. Drive carefully, keep your record clean and this will take care of itself over time. Take defensive driving or driver’s ed if you haven’t already.
The vehicle. If your vehicle is often stolen, expensive to repair after a crash, or not good at protecting you from injuries in a crash, you will pay more for insurance. Your car only got 2 stars for safety. If you trade it in for a newer, boring family sedan, your rates will go down. If I recall correctly, the Bravada was the Olds equivalent of the Blazer, which actually had a poorer real-world safety record than the Civic of the same year.
A woman I work hated her Hyundai and traded it in for a Jetta. The VW was safer, so her insurance went down as much as her loan payment increased.
Where you live. If car theft is high there, you will pay more for insurance. Not much you can do about that, unless you can convince your parents to move.

Request the bare minimum required. Tell them you want the highest deductable.
If you don’t smoke, tell them you are a non-smoker.
Tell them you want a “Good student” discount.
Use the same insurance company your parents use, and inform the agent your parents use them, and you need the family discount.
Take drivers ed. Let them know you took it.
    Request a “Safe drivers” discount.
If your car has any of these features, you may be able to get a discount also.
    Anti-lock breaks
    Automatic seatbelts
    Airbags
And don’t use an internet insurance company (like geico or progressive). They are twice as expensive as normal places like state farm or allstate.
And ignore the downvote from the geico lover below. Apparantly he has more money than sense.
My daughter paid $95/month for insurance from Allstate. Geico wanted $172.

well, first off, you’re 16..that’s why it’s expensive. and an suv will cost more because they have problems with flipping if you take corners too fast. Also how many tickets you have determine that. so basically there’s no way at this point that you can lower it because it’s all set based on age and type of vehicle and driving record. also if you dropped out of high school it makes insurance go up for some reason. my husband dropped out his junior year and his license is still suspended from it and he’s 24 now.

Given your age, it won’t be cheap. But the rate will change after 6 months ,It won’t be a dramatic change, but gradually, it will go down, unless you keep getting into accidents
What borino says about anti-theft and alarm is true, you will get lower rates, as well as if your car has ABS, club etc… Any extra safety feature is a plus when looking for car insurance.

If you are a student and get good grades, you can show a report card and get a discount. Also if your car has any kind of anti-theft device, like etched windows or an alarm, you get a discount.
